From massive rock fests to intimate classical showcases, Houston music festivals in 2025 are bringing heat across every genre. Whether you’re into reggae, soul, country, or classical music, there’s something on the calendar worth adding to your summer plans.

Here’s your go-to guide to the biggest and most interesting Houston music festivals this year — plus a few hidden gems.

Soul Flower Music Fest
Date: May 3, 2025
Location: Discovery Green
Genres: Soul, R&B, Neo-Soul

A downtown favorite, Soul Flower Music Fest is everything we love about Houston wrapped into one smooth Saturday. The event mixes national headliners with local talent, and there’s way more than just music: food trucks, games, local shopping, photo ops, and that signature H-Town energy.

Expect vibes, sunshine, and strong community spirit in the heart of the city. This one’s a gem for anyone looking to chill, dance, and discover some incredible soul and R&B acts.

Buzzfest 2025
Date: May 24, 2025
Location: Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
Genres: Rock, Alternative

Buzzfest has been a staple in the greater Houston area for years, and this year’s lineup is as loud and stacked as ever. Headliners include Chevelle, Marilyn Manson, and Blue October — plus performances by P.O.D., Evans Blue, Sleep Theory, and Stabbing Westward.

It kicks off at 1 PM, but locals know to show up early. The Pavilion Lounge opens at 11 AM, and gates open at noon. First-come, first-served seating applies until 3 PM, so plan accordingly.

Heads-up: strict bag rules are enforced (small or clear bags only), so check the venue policy before you go.

La Izquierda Surf & Music Festival
Dates: May 2–3, 2025
Location: Galveston Beach Central
Genres: Rock, Indie, Beach Vibes

Not quite in Houston, but worth the short trip, this festival brings a beachy twist to the music scene. With local bands, surf contests, art vendors, and family-friendly fun, it’s a laid-back way to welcome summer.

Perfect for anyone who wants to mix salt air with good music.

Sugar Land Jazz Festival
Dates: May 9–10, 2025
Location: Crown Festival Park
Genres: Jazz, Funk, R&B

This two-day jazz fest is one of the slickest events of the year, featuring names like Brian Culbertson, Sheila E. and E Train, and The Commodores. It runs from 3 PM to 10:30 PM both days, and there’s a clear set of do’s and don’ts when it comes to what you can bring. No outside food or drinks, no large bags, and definitely no drones.

Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, so go comfy and be ready to relax with some of the best jazz in the United States.

Outlaw Music Festival
Date: July 6, 2025
Location: Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
Genres: Americana, Folk, Country

This year’s Outlaw tour is the biggest yet. The lineup reads like a dream: Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, and more.

It’s not just another Houston country red dirt music festival. It’s a full-blown Americana celebration, with a cross-generational mix of legends and rising stars. Tickets go fast, and there are VIP packages for fans who want a closer experience.

Puerto Rican & Cuban Festival
Date: October 18, 2025
Genres: Latin, Caribbean

Always a hit in the fall, this annual event brings Caribbean culture front and center. Expect a full day of music, dancing, food, and celebration of Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage.

Stay tuned for details on the venue and lineup.

Korean Festival Houston
Dates: October 11–12, 2025
Genres: K-pop, Traditional Korean Music, Fusion

This two-day cultural celebration includes live music, dance, food, and a strong sense of community. While full details haven’t dropped yet, K-Fest always draws a big crowd and plenty of energy.

Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival
Dates: June 2025
Location: University of Houston (Moores School of Music)
Genres: Classical Music

This classical gem highlights some of the most talented young musicians in the country. Performances by the Festival Orchestra and special appearances by guest artists make this a must-see for fans of orchestral and chamber music. Groups like the Monarch Chamber Players have been known to join in for select performances.

It’s an enriching experience and a great introduction to classical music if you’re new to it.
