This post is in honor of the upcoming 11th season of Bob’s Burgers premiering September 27. Not sponsored. Fox, please sponsor me. <3
During one of our weeks, quarantined, Kyle and I rewatched all 194 of Bob’s Burgers episodes. What a better way to celebrate the show coming back than share my favorite episodes and see what your favorites were. We went march madness style in dwindling my favorite episodes down to 10. This was an entertaining blog post to write, and I can’t wait to hear what you think.
Things we considered while rating these episodes. I say “we” because Kyle was the tiebreaker in some situations.
- A/B Plotline
- Songs
- Guest Stars
The Ring But Not Scary
This episode was the perfect opening to season 10. Jillian Bell guest stars as Nat again, who is the shining star of this episode. Linda and Bob’s anniversary is infamously 9/3, and this year Bob has purchased the engagement ring that he never had the money to acquire for Linda. It’s such a sweet gesture, and it’s no surprise when the kids steal and lose the ring. Nat to the rescue! Of course, she not only has a buddy at the water park, and enlists the help of the Puff Divers, an all-female group of scuba and cannabis enthusiasts. Even though they don’t find the ring, the episode ends on a happy note, with the ring being a lot closer than they think.
Some of my favorite lines:
“The burn is just the sun’s way of saying, “Hey, beautiful.”
“Robert, the second there’s daylight, someone is gonna find that ring, and they’re not gonna turn it in. They’re gonna put it in their dirty little pocket. It’s not an honesty park, it’s a water park.”
Gayle Tails
In my opinion, Gayle Tails is one, if not the best Gayle episode on Bob’s Burgers. Gayle’s date for the evening had canceled on her, and the kids come up with Gayle themed essays. This episode has so many witty jokes, and the three “essays” from the Belcher kids are The Ballad of Gayle and Jo-Gene, Lady Chatter-teeth’s Lover, and Gayle of Thrones. Gayle’s date for the evening had canceled on her, which is why the essay contest. Gayle’s random obsession with Scott Bacula is just another reason she is one of my favorite characters on Bob’s Burgers. In the end, Gayle ends up going out on her date, and we find out the real reason Linda grounded her kids.
My favorite line:
“Louise, you haven’t watched Game of Thrones, right? No. Game of what? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Father of The Bob
Father of The Bob is my favorite Bob’s Burger episode ever. The plotline is excellent, it’s a holiday episode, and the guest star is Nick Offerman. I even have the featured “Burger of the Day” recipe from Father of the Bob, “Baby, you can chive my car” burger.
My favorite line:
“Dear Lord Santa, this year, please bless me with a calendar of Australian firefighters holding puppies in casual settings.”
Bed and Breakfast
Bed and Breakfast is a classic Bob’s Burgers episode from the first season. Linda hosts a Bed and Breakfast at the Belcher house. The chaos starts to build after the guests arrive and hit the maximum level when Linda rents out Louises’ room to Teddy.
My favorite line:
“God’s gonna say, “Hey, aren’t you the lady who rented the B&B I heard about? And I’m gonna say, “Yes, God…” “What can I get you?”
Sea Me Now
In rewatching Bob’s burgers, I saw the character development that goes into Teddy being a restaurant regular to fan favorite. “Sea Me Now” is one of my favorite Teddy episodes. It gives you a look into his past and how the Belchers help him overcome his lost love.
Some of my favorite lines:
My favorite part of this episode is when the Belchers and Teddy are cruising by his ex-wife’s boyfriend’s restaurant. There are too many quotable moments to pick just one.
Last Gingerbread House on the left
The Last Gingerbread House on the left features everything you need in a holiday episode: caroling, gingerbread house contests, and an albino polar bear cub. I love any episode that features Felix and Mr. Fischoeder. The episode has a good A/B plotline with the gingerbread house contest at the Fischoeder and the rest of the family on their caroling adventure. In the end, Bob ends up giving a Christmas present to his family that they will never forget.
Some of my favorite lines:
“Besides, you know what the greatest gift of all is? Family. You say that to the kids with a straight face.”
“Kids, I want you to know I’m not trying to replace your father while we’re caroling. But if you so choose, you may call me Caroling Dad.”
Bleakening part 1 & 2
Christmas of My Dreams is an excellent start to this two-part episode. While there is no burger of the day in these episodes, it does feature a “Santa Slider.”
The Bleakening song is one of the best songs in Bob’s Burger episode history. The beat is fantastic, and it really should be apart of everyone’s holiday mix this season. I love the multiple musical conversations that happen throughout the two episodes. I would’ve never imagined.
Some of my favorite lines:
Bleakening Song
V For Valentine-detta
This episode features one of my favorite characters on the show, Nat. She has the most exciting life, and her character is the cherry on top of this episode. V For Valentine-detta also has a solid B plot with Gene/Bob. Girl Power Jam is also a fun song mixed in. Jimmy Junior sucks in this episode, so it’s a perfect ending with the stink bombs.
Some of my favorite lines:
“Sad girl, do you want to go run over this kid who dumped you or what?”
“You know what always makes people feel better after they get their hearts broken? Lizards”
Something Old, Something New
Something Old, Something New is the 150th episode of Bob’s Burgers as well as the finale episode for Season 8. This episode features the Belchers catering a wedding of customers that had their first meal in the restaurant, which led to them falling in love. Bob is also questioning his career choice while Linda is questioning if the bride and groom at the wedding will last. The song in this episode is one of my favorites.
Some of my favorite lines:
“You should name your first baby, The Belcher Children.”
“You farted on our second date.”
“Because I knew you were the one.”
The Kids Run Away
Louise finds out that she has a cavity, and it escalated to a crazy weekend at Aunt Gayles. This episode features Dr. Yap and Aunt Gayle, which always make for a fun combination. I’ve always kind of hoped that Bob’s Burgers would release Gayle Force Winds as a real game.
Some of my favorite lines:
“Oh, that darn mailman must be taking my letters! If that’s his way of getting me to notice him, it’s kind of working.”
Yes, these are my ten favorite Bob’s Burgers episodes. Leave your favorites in the comments below!
Love it!
