Eureka Heights Brewery
I had wanted to go to the Eureka Heights brewery because they are the brewery behind one of Kyle’s favorite Houston beers, Neon Moon.
While discussing Neon Moon, Eureka Heights Brewer Georgie explained the process behind the brewers making the beers at Eureka Heights.
“We align a lot. We want people to have pints of the beer, and it be drinkable, and you’ll want another one. We keep it fun, but keep the consistency with our core beers.”
You can also find Eureka Heights beers on the shelves of your local grocery store.
“Last year we did close to 7,000 barrels, and this year we are going to do a lot more than that.”
Eureka Heights Brewer Hayden shared with us what his favorite things about the Eureka Heights brewery was – and why he wanted to work at it.
”With the exception of the barrel-aged anniversary beers, everything has a relatively low ABV. And everything is very approachable.”
Eureka Heights new seasonal beer – Ax Hat
Every year Eureka Heights has rotating seasonal beer. This year the spring seasonal is Ax Hat, a Norwegian style pale ale. Georgie said she believes it drinks similar to a low calorie beer, but with all the flavor you expect from high quality craft beer.
“It uses a different yeast, Norwegian Kveik Yeast. Normally the fermentation types are about anywhere from anywhere to 65 to 70 documents.”
Georgie explained how this particular yeast strain was recently rediscovered.
“It was really fun to work with that yeast strain. The beer turned out very light. It’s so refreshing.”
We tried the beer ourselves, and I would agree. My Favorite beer that we tried was Squishee, a peach and apricot sour.
