Looking for a good time that also supports your wellness goals? Houston offers a wide variety of free fitness classes for every interest, whether you’re into full body HIIT, strength training with free weights, or low-impact options like line dancing and meditation classes.

Discovery Green offers a great way to add free fitness classes to your fitness routine each week. All fitness levels and skill levels are welcome to join these group fitness classes.

Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm feature Gentle Yoga Flow and Sound Meditation, part of the Fitness in the Park series. This class helps build core strength, relax your mind, and bring peace of mind. Bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and towel for comfort.

Tai Chi in the Park Houston offers a free fitness program that promotes healthy minds and healthy bodies. The program educates local communities about the benefits of Tai Chi and Qi Gong through classes held in accessible park settings.

Provided by Blue Dragon Tai Chi for Health and Longevity in partnership with Houston Parks and Conservancies, these group fitness classes are open to all skill levels. They are gentle enough for seniors and those recovering from illness or injury, making them an excellent addition to any fitness regimen focused on well-being.

Classes take place at Evelyn’s Park, Levy Park, and Camden Park.


Mary Jo Peckham Aquatic and Fitness Center in Katy offers a variety of free fitness classes suitable for all fitness levels and ages. M-K-T hosts free fitness classes that rotate throughout the year, offering a fun way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. One popular event is Summer Fridays: free evening yoga on the lawn. These group fitness classes, led by Union Studio Yoga, provide a great way to improve your fitness routine while connecting with nature. The outdoor sessions take place on Fridays, including August 8, 2025, weather permitting. Bringing a yoga mat and water bottle is recommended to stay comfortable during this full-body workout. Located in Houston’s coveted Heights neighborhood, M-K-T is a trail-oriented mixed-use project offering retail, dining, entertainment, and a variety of fitness classes.


Get Down, Downtown! at Market Square Park is a free fitness event that blends movement and music for a fun way to stay active. Held on select Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m., these high-energy dance lessons are taught by professional instructors and welcome all fitness levels. Whether you’re new to dancing or already have the moves, it’s a great way to build confidence, improve core strength, and enjoy a full-body workout.

Each month features a different dance style—salsa in June, bachata in July, and merengue in August—followed by a live DJ so participants can show off their new skills. These group fitness classes are open to all experience levels and offer a chance to meet new friends while supporting your mental health and fitness routine.
