March is a great time to explore Houston’s exciting cultural scene. From attending the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to enjoying the Bayou City Art Festival, there are plenty of events and activities to keep you entertained throughout the month. March 1-March 17: At the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, you’ll experience thrilling live concerts, interactive exhibits, and adrenaline-pumping calf roping competitions. Get a taste of rodeo excitement at an array of free events perfect for families and attendees of all ages. At NRG Park, you can experience the thrill and tradition of watching bull riding during the Houston Rodeo. There’s something for everyone at the arena, from the electrifying atmosphere to the educational exhibits. It is an iconic Houston experience where music, sportsmanship, and community combine to bring the rodeo spirit to life.
March 11–15: Spend Spring Break at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, where child-friendly activities await in the gardens, historic house, and Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor Center. A $10 admission fee applies to adults over 18, while free admission is offered to children under 18. Each day features unique highlights: experience the majesty of “Birds in Flight” with Sky Kings Falconry and a duo violin recital on Monday; be enchanted by Puppet Pizzazz’s “Living Flower Garden” on Tuesday; get up close with Texas Snakes’ “Reptile Encounter” on Wednesday; relax to the melodious “Springtime Harp” by Hope Cowan on Thursday; and conclude the week with fun at the Petting Zoo from “Farm Group” Zone on Friday. For nature lovers, culture lovers, and arts lovers alike, it’s an ideal Spring Break spot to spend time at The Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
March 11-15: Take advantage of Houston Center for Contemporary Craft’s special Spring Break week openings to explore the joys of craft and art making. Every day between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., participants of all ages can engage in hands-on crafts such as polymer clay jewelry, circle weaving, Ukrainian egg ornament painting, and natural dyeing. A skilled teaching artist and volunteer will demonstrate these activities in order to inspire creativity and provide insight into the creation process. The museum also hosts exhibitions like THIS SIDE UP and Fiber in 3D, as well as studio visits from resident artists. HCCC offers an enriching Spring Break experience for families and children ages three and up that is free, open to the public, and offers an opportunity to explore art through fun and interactive activities.
March 12-15: Enjoy Houston’s only outdoor roller-skating rink and plenty of educational and entertaining activities during Spring Break week at Discovery Green. While skating fees apply at Discovery Green during Spring Break, all other activities are free.
March 13-16: Johnson Space Center Houston will host the Moon 2 Mars Festival during spring break week. Along with your general admission ticket, you will be able to explore the wonders of space and enjoy live music from The All-American Rejects and DJ sets at nasa space center. Experience cutting-edge space technology, immersive experiences, stellar cuisine, and a cosmic journey of discovery for all ages over four days.
March 14-17: Dive into the electrifying world of funk at the Hobby Center from March 14-17, with “Super Freak: The Rick James Story,” a theatrical journey into the life of the King of Punk Funk against the gritty backdrop of Buffalo. Witness Rick James, standing tall at 5’11” with his signature braids and leather ensemble, as he brings his flamboyant stage presence to life, featuring hits like “Give It to Me Baby,” “Mary Jane,” and “Super Freak.” This musical not only celebrates his chart-topping music but also delves into his tumultuous life of excess, capturing the complexity of an icon whose legacy continues to echo, ensuring an immersive and unforgettable experience.
March 15: The Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown will present “Grease”, starting at 1:00pm, with doors opening at 12:30pm. Experience the rekindling of Sandy and Danny’s summer love when they find themselves at the same high school. From the kid-friendly Adirondack Chair for $11 to the cozy Family Loveseat for $18, guests are encouraged to arrive early for the best seats on a first-come, first-served basis. All attendees will receive prompt email notification if the event is cancelled due to weather, with options to transfer or refund tickets.
March 15-16: Get ready for an unforgettable overnight adventure with the Spring Community Campout. On Friday at 4 p.m., set up your campsite and settle in for an evening watching the Super Mario Bros Movie under the stars. A delicious hot dog dinner will be served by Parkway Fellowship, followed by popcorn and s’mores. Saturday morning will be filled with inflatables and more from local Katy community partners.
March 16: Start your weekend with tranquility and balance at “Yoga in the Park” from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Molly Ann Smith Plaza. Black Swan Yoga, in partnership with Hermann Park Conservancy, welcomes you for a rejuvenating yoga experience in the midst of the park’s natural beauty. Although the event is free, an RSVP is appreciated to ensure there is space for everyone who wishes to attend.
March 16, 23, 30: Visit the Farmers Market On Grand Parkway every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm at 1225 W Grand Pkwy S in Katy. Rain or shine, this market brings the freshest local produce, meats, eggs, honey, baked goods, jams, spices, multicultural foods, and artisan crafts. In addition to easy parking, the event is family-friendly and welcomes leashed pets.
March 16: Immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythms of Reggae in the Park, a music festival celebrating the rich cultural tapestries of reggae, soca, dancehall, and Afrobeats. Returning to Guadalupe Plaza Park on March 16, from 3-10 p.m., this event invites up to 3,000 guests to enjoy performances by international artists amidst a backdrop of authentic food, art, and jewelry vendors. Dive into an array of games, picture booths, and activities designed for an unforgettable experience. Tickets start at just $8, located at 2311 Runnels St., Houston. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a global musical celebration right in the heart of Houston
March 16: The Clear Lake City Community Center, located at 16511 Diana Lane, Houston, will host a Spring Fest where you will be able to meet the Easter Bunny, enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt, train rides, and a petting zoo, and much more. The event will be filled with a variety of vendors, food trucks, outdoor games, and Easter crafts for you to enjoy all day long. Easter egg decorating contests, egg relay races, egg and spoon races, and bunny hop races are just a few of the exciting contests and races. The festival is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
March 16, 23, 30: Visit Houston’s Saturday Farmers Market, one of the largest gatherings of local vendors and producers in Texas. Over 100 vendors within 180 miles of Houston participate in the market every Saturday, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. John’s School parking lot. A vibrant market experience will be held at 2752 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, with free parking available in the garage off Buffalo Speedway. With over 500 parking spots available, accessing fresh, locally-sourced goods at this farmers markets has never been more convenient, ensuring a hassle-free experience as you explore a diverse array of produce and products from local vendors.
March 16: Learn about the intricacies and misconceptions surrounding the Battle of San Jacinto at the History Under the Stars lecture series from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Q&A session and reception. Explore the debates over the monument’s location, the narrative of Texan independence, and historical accounts, including those from Mexican historians and an 1843 Texas publication. The cost of this enlightening evening at the San Jacinto Monument event is $5 for non-members and $3 for museum members, with free admission for students.
March 16: Get in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day at POST Houston, located at 401 Franklin St. in Houston. Enjoy free games, balloon artists, face painting, and more at the HTown Happy Hour outdoor market. Come experience the excitement of the 62nd Annual Houston St. Patrick’s Parade as it weaves its way through downtown Houston beginning at noon. The celebration continues with Irish folk dance performances, culminating in a U2 Tribute Band Rooftop Concert from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Skylawn Outpost Rooftop.
March 16: Celebrate Irish culture in grand style at the 63rd Annual Houston St. Patrick’s Parade on this St. Patrick’s Day starting at noon. This vibrant celebration of Irish heritage promises an unforgettable parade experience. The parade will feature marching bands, floats, Irish dancers, and more! There will also be plenty of food and vendors to enjoy. This is one of the top events to attend to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early in Houston.
March 16: The Spring Break week is the perfect time to visit Your Neighborhood Farmer’s Market located at 1250 Lake Plaza Dr, in Spring. Dive into a world of local shopping while you groove to the vibrant sounds of steel drums. Enjoy a variety of tasty food truck offerings. It is the perfect opportunity to support local vendors and enjoy a day filled with good food, live music, and community spirit.
March 16: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day like never before with the Houston St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl from from 1 – 8 p.m. Come dressed in your best green attire for an afternoon filled with local pub specials, lively Irish music, and a vibrant spirit of camaraderie. In addition to a Pub Crawl wristband, your ticket includes free entry to participating venues, a digital map to guide your adventure, and the opportunity to immerse yourself in an authentic St. Patrick’s Day celebration. March 16: Star Party in The Glades is a free event hosted by the Houston Astronomical Society on Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m held at Memorial Park. Residents will have the opportunity to enjoy a night of stargazing at the North Lakeside Pavilion. Astronomers will be onsite to explain constellations, planets, and celestial objects visible from Eastern Glades. For an up-close view of the cosmos, download the Stellarium app to your mobile device or bring your own telescope or binoculars.
March 17: Take part in Houston’s largest crawfish event on March 17th, where over 2000 people can dance, laugh, and eat buckets of tasty crawfish. Experience some of the best crawfish at The 2024 Houston Crawfish Kickoff Festival which will take place from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 2311 Runnels Street in Houston, Guadalupe Plaza Park. Enjoy crawfish season with all-you-can-eat crawfish, live music, and DJs, as well as plenty of games and food options in an outdoor park setting.
March 17: Home Run Dugout at 1220 Grand W Blvd. in Katy offers a unique and family-friendly alternative to the traditional St. Patrick’s Day celebration. This first annual Corgi Race will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., where the pups will compete to win the title. Cheer on your favorite corgis at HRD as they race to win.
March 21: Come enjoy the melodious sounds of Nick and the Hits on this Thursday night, featuring a variety of tunes that are guaranteed to entertain. The concert will take place from 7 to 9 p.m., nestled on Lake Woodlands’ picturesque Hughes Landing Band Shell. Enjoy happy hours and specials at Restaurant Row to complement your musical experience. Hughes Landing offers a wonderful atmosphere filled with great music and good vibes.
March 21: Immerse yourself in the captivating world of surrealism at The Woodlands Art Gallery & Studios from 5 to 8 p.m. for the Opening Reception of “Surrealism. It Is, But It Isn’t” Juried Art Show. This exceptional event showcases the creativity and talent of local artists, featuring works that blend the real with the unreal in intriguing and thought-provoking ways. Located at 208 Nursery Rd., The Woodlands, the gallery will host this collection until May 10, 2024.
March 21: The Houston Museum of Natural Science will host an exclusive “Matter and Motion” event for members from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Matter & Motion Hall has been recently renovated, so you can take part in extraordinary activities like lifting pianos, dancing on periodic tables, and unraveling alchemical mysteries during this unique evening. Minute Maid Park Half Marathon, 10K, & 5K on Sunday, March 24, 2024, part of the prestigious Run Houston Race Series that showcases eight of Houston’s top running events. There are timed and untimed 5K runs, a 10K run, a kids 1K run, and virtual race options, ensuring that every runner’s preference and schedule can be accommodated. This course provides scenic views of downtown Houston as you pass through some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
March 24: At Heritage Square you can enjoy a Farmers Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This market is held every second and fourth Sunday of the month and features homemade goods and fresh produce. Whether you’re looking for artisan foods or fresh fruit and vegetables, this is a perfect opportunity to support local businesses in Katy.
March 26: The “Hats in the Park” luncheon will take place within the beautiful McGovern Centennial Gardens in Hermann Park, hosted by Julie Longoria Chen, Isabel David, and Rishma Mohamed. This year’s event honors Paula Harris, executive director of the Houston Astros Foundation, for her dedication to enhancing Hermann Park. By purchasing a ticket or table, you will directly support the Hermann Park Conservancy’s vital mission to preserve and enhance the park through volunteerism and stewardship.

March 29: Miller Outdoor Theatre’s 101st season will kick off with a tribute to Linda Ronstadt featuring Gesenia, celebrating Ronstadt’s iconic hits that resonated with millions. Even though Ronstadt no longer performs, her music lives on through classics like “You’re No Good” and “Blue Bayou”, which fans can enjoy at this free event. Miller tickets are available online or via smartphone, with a limit of 4 per person. For the Hill, no tickets are required, so the show goes on rain or shine.
March 30: Mark your calendars for March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon for the ECW Easter Family Festival at the Parish Life Center, 717 Sage Road, Houston. March 30: Join Your Neighborhood Farmers Market Association at the Bridgeland Spring Festival on March 30. Lakeland Village will be transformed into a Spring Oasis from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 10519 Fry Rd., in Cypress. March 30: The City Place Easter Celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive in Spring. Free and family-friendly, this event offers a variety of activities, including a petting zoo, fun arts and crafts, and photos with the Easter Bunny. Enjoy this special Easter Day celebration in City Place with your family and create lasting memories.
March 30: ROMANCE!, a concert blending passion and melody, will be performed by the Houston Latin American Philharmonic Orchestra from 8 to 10 p.m. In its third season at Miller Outdoor Theatre, this performance will showcase Latin American music, including Tango, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bolero, and Bachata. In a free event featuring 50 of the finest musicians and special guest artists, you’ll be able to experience the exhilaration of love and romance through the wonderful sounds of Latin America’s cherished music.
